My project - started in 2008

Jeu 19 Jan 2017, 4:44 am

Tonio encouraged me to start my own thread so here it is. I hope some of you will find it interesting.

First of all, I am really sorry but I will post in English only, I can't speak French. :(

Some words about the car:
My Swift was built in March 2002 in Esztergom, Hungary, soon it will be 15 years old! I bought it in 2008 in really good condition, mileage was 92000 km's.
Originally it was a G13BA Swift GS "Sport V".
Suzuki built some special editions in limited numbers for the Hungarian market, "Sport V" was one of them and was offered from late 2001 till early 2002. Some features of the Sport V Swifts: 13" OZ wheels, GS sport seats with "Sport" embroidery, GTi rear upper wing, 0BK graphite grey metallic colour, blue dials in the cluster, fog lights, the same chrome exhaust tip that the GTi muffler had, etc.

I thought it would be a good base for a GTi conversion so I bought it, the price was almost 6000CAD.
Everything started there...
9 years later, I still have the car, I still don't want to sell it. I have already modified a lot of things but there are even more mods to come. Neverending project... :|

These are still from 2009 - changed all the brakes to GTi and installed -40mm Vogtland lowering springs
New discs and pads.
I was really lucky when I bought these GTi hubs with the calipers because they were from a 40000km GTi and were in immaculate condition. I also bought the transmission from that same car. All in all for 240CAD including shipping!

Very nice...any GTi's in Hungary?

Where are you getting your GTi parts from?

Yes Tonio, there are some GTi's in Hungary, though not too many. Hungarian dealerships never sold any, we had to import all of them.
I have a very good friend who is a GTi enthusiast, he has 5 complete cars at the moment and he has wrecked another 15-20 so far. He is a big hoarder, almost all those parts are on the shelves waiting to be used again, I usually get the parts from him. The guy has probably the best white Mk3 in Hungary, original condition, if I remember correctly, only 54 or 56000 km's on the clock. One of the garages in which he keeps some of his cars (you might notice that the hoods are open, but that's how he keeps them, there is nothing wrong with the cars):

Honestly, I could have bought an original GTi but when I was looking for a Swift, there were only rusty wrecks for sale. I chose a good GS with no rust instead and started to convert it. :)
